Nagoya Soundwall in Brighton, Oct 2011
Soundwall
_Since 1979 Vogel has been inventing what he calls Soundwalls with
dozens of sensors. In effect the sound walls are materialised scores,
waiting to be activated by the user/viewer. The soundwalls can be seen
purely as sculptures. But to be fully appreciated the sounds need to be
triggered as well by the interaction with the viewer or performer. In
this sense Vogel’s Soundwalls are open works, which are only completed
by the user/viewer. Vogel has performed with his Soundwall in public.
